Yesterday my friend treated me to Orozco's De Ventura near The Wharf. It's an adorable upscale/casual Mexican restaurant with family recipes dating back 600 years (some with vegan twists of course)! They have a few rules of salsas depending on your mood. We had the roasted salsa and then tried the spicy...both heated and let me tell you it was love at first bite. I couldn't decide which salsa I loved more!
I ordered the Chile Relleno and the presentation was gorgeous as was the food! Served with a beautiful side of rice and beans (both vegan) and let's just say there were no leftovers!
We watched them bringing out dishes to other tables and were intrigued especially bu the large filled bowl of guacamole order!ed!
They have a large menu and some exotic fruit water drinks!
The service was amazing and it really felt like you just came over to your family's house!
I would say this is a destination spot! Check it out. You'll know what I mean!
I'm hungry now! -

This is probably the best Mexican food I have ever had. My wife and I enjoyed the flavorful food enormously. The service was also wonderful. The owner gave us good recommendation and polite. The food was so well made - exotic flavors were flowing in my mouth with each bite.
The presentation, the ambience and the location were also good. While it is not in the prime downtown location, the place is close to the pier. -

We came here for dinner on Fathers Day and were less than impressed.
The server was friendly enough, greeted us well and I'm sure would have provided excellent and attentive service if he had more people helping. It seemed that they didn't have enough people to help and he was basically the only one in the front of the house. With 80% of the tables full, his attention and service was divided so much that it became difficult to even get his attention for simple things, like drink refills. There was a lady from the kitchen who came out periodically to make sure our chips and salsa was refreshed.
The food was average at best. I ordered the Rib Eye, which I was told was the last one for the evening. The menu stated it should have garlic butter on it. The steak was bland as can be, not a hint of salt or pepper and definently no garlic butter. It also was less tender than expected, so it required a lot of chew. Another member of our party ordered chicken fajitas which were also bland and under seasoned. The only redeeming dish was a seafood dish that had a fillet, shrimp and octopus in it. That person was the only person who really enjoyed their dinner.
Overall, poor service (not the servers fault, he was just divided too many ways) and bland food make for me not too excited to visit again. -

We waited 1 hour for our food!!!
The check was overcharged by $35.00. They did cooperate with fixing the problem. I was visiting in the area and decided to come here based off the reviews. Deeply disappointed. The food was okay. The service was not good. I never write a bad review, this is the 1st. Perhaps they were short staffed that day. -

Sophisticated Mexican food within the tradition. Great live music, excellent service. Feels like being in a family. I love it
